Ask HN: Non-US residents using Coinbase?
1 point by junto on Aug 6, 2014 | hide | past | favorite
Ok, I'm a bitcoin noob, but today I decided I wanted to buy some. Maybe I want to tip the odd open source project I like without using Paypal, etc.

I'm based in Germany. This FAQ [1] on the coinbase website states that non-US residents can't verify their accounts.

It then states what coinbase WITHOUT verification CAN do, but it doesn't state what they CAN'T do?

Without ID verification it is still possible to:
    - receive and store bitcoin
    - secure your funds with 2-factor authentication
    - create recurring payments
    - manage paper wallets
    - send bitcoin to email addresses.
Is it just that non-US residents can't do instant transfers?

Or should I just use bitcoin.de? Advice welcome.
