Closure Compiler, Dart2JS, and GWT are optimizing compilers. Most large Google applications for example would be hideously large without an optimizing compiler.

Definitely. It was a terse statement for simplicity. I was hoping that my sentence "it's not good for extending javascript" clarified that.
