I am pretty surprised how complicated it was to get Limux running.

I expected I could circumvent the trouble by ordering the laptop with Ubuntu preinstalled and properly configured and tuned so I could just boot the machine and get to work.

Going through the configurator on the website I can't find an option for getting Ubuntu pre-installed.

Is this not an option then, or did I miss it?
