When I bring up poverty alleviation at EA meetups I feel like the response I get is "yeah that's definitely super important, we all donate to effective charities, but it's not fun to talk about as AI risk which makes for fun debates".

I feel like EAs see global poverty almost as a solved problem when there is a lot of work to be done still.
