Haven't seen anyone mention the human that almost gets hit. If the person standing in the lane (the truck's driver maybe?) hadn't stepped out of the way, the Tesla would have run him over without slowing down... Looks like multiple clear perception system failures.


Or, autopilot was not engaged. I haven't seen any evidence yet that it was turned on at all.


Regardless, the car should have emergency breaking. As it stands, it seems like Tesla struggles at novel stationary objects right in front of the car.

It seems like their training is more geared to Known object types in front, and arbitrary objects on either side


Yet, in most third-party tests and evaluations, Tesla's AEB get better restults than the rest of the industry (with a 94% safety rating: https://www.euroncap.com/en/results/tesla/model-3/37573). Mmh...
